Why the Church?

We are serving two populations at Together for Good. We serve and care for the vulnerable – the families in a crisis that need support – and we serve the Church. Many Christians want to help vulnerable families, but they don't know where to begin when it comes to alleviating suffering and hurt in their community. We want to put Christians on mission in their own cities. We know the mission field is not far from our homes, and we want to empower and encourage local churches to serve in their own community – to love their neighbors.

Working in the child welfare crisis has a high burnout rate. We know that volunteers are able to serve longer and more effectively when they have support. The Church is the perfect place for volunteers to give their time, talent, and treasure while being supported by the rest of the congregation. When our professional staff connect a participant family with a volunteer host family or advocate, they are also connecting them to an entire church – a community that is committed to caring for the participant parent and their children.
